Coordinator & Coordinator Team Workshops

Mobilizing Churches for Perspectives
Workshop Leaders: Bill Wimberly, Lumen Resources International
                            Harold Britton, World Venture
How many churches are typically represented in your class? 5? 10? 20? How about over 50!?! This workshop is designed to show you how you and your team can get numerous churches to get behind your class each season, bringing a diversity of age, gender, ethnicity and a variety of evangelical traditions to the class.

Creative Review Activities
Workshop Leader: David Swanson, Texas A&M
Not always an area of strength for coordinators, yet vital to the students “getting it”, summarizing the lesson can be monotonous, boring, even intimidating. This workshop describes some resources that are available to help you creatively summarize the major points, highlight the next lesson, review the quizzes, and get students excited about doing the reading.

Promoting and Recruiting: Two Sides of the Same Coin
Workshop Leader: Steve Shadrach, USCWM/TheBodyBuilders
No longer can we expect the brochure, or even the website, to do the job of promoting for our classes. The entire Coordinator Team needs to be involved in recruiting students and churches. It is not as overwhelming as it seems, but doing so can secure a large enough class even before the first brochure is even printed! This workshop covers some of the dynamic how-to’s.

Mobilizing the College Campus in Your Area
Workshop Leaders: Andy Kampman, USCWM Collegiate Mobilization Division
                            Todd Ahrend, The Traveling Team
Maybe one of the greatest untapped areas for Perspectives, the college students of today represent those who will perhaps complete the Great Commission. This workshop is geared towards giving your practical insights into using Perspectives as an integral part in this process. Getting a Campus Minister on board with Perspectives could initiate a movement that will result in students year after year.

Identifying and Leveraging Team Strengths: Building a Dynamic Coordinator Team
Workshop Leader: Dan Dow, Nintendo Corporation
Critical to the task of building effective coordination teams and area programs is the ability to help team members to use their strengths and passion within their area of calling. Working from strength releases passion, energy and effectiveness like nothing else can. This workshop will equip Coordinators, Area Supervisors and Regional Directors with the skills to help them and their teams identify strengths and find their God-given place of participation.

Perspectives Website 201... From Good to Great!
Workshop Leaders: Alex Blanton, Perspectives IT
                           John Patton, USCWM/Perspectives
Perspectives has undergone a technological overhaul. Most of the procedures and resources are now online, and more will be moving there in the weeks and months to come. Classes now have their own pre-made website with a private student center and coordinating team center. This workshop is designed to give you an overview of the changes made, to help you better navigate the website and database, and properly plan for your class. It will also introduce some new and exciting ideas we are planning for the future.

Stop Ruining the Lives of North Americans!
Workshop Leaders: Bruce Koch, Perspectives Global Network
                           Christy Graham, Perspectives Global Network
Have you ever thought about “ruining” Africans or Asians “for the ordinary” as well? Would a Perspectives program in another country benefit from your experience, creativity and support? Find out how you can be a blessing to the nations through the Perspectives Global Network.

Mobilizing the Next Generation
Workshop Leaders: Karen Hardin, Caleb Resources
Nancy Tichy, USCWM Inland Empire Office
Imagine Perspectives being simple enough that even kids could take it. Developed by a team of children’s experts, Outside the Lines is an engaging children’s program designed to run simultaneously with your Perspectives class. Learn how you can train up the next generation to impact their world.

Coordinator Training Upgrade
Workshop Leader: Sue Patt, PSP/USCWM Eastern Regional Office
With all the changes taking place with Perspectives, you need to stay on top of it all! We've revised the Coordinator Training Workshop to equip coordinators in web applications, and to reflect the bigger vision of mobilization for which Perspectives has been used. Find out what's new in the PCW. Previous training as a coordinator is a pre-requisite for this workshop.

Life After Perspectives: Helping Alumni Take the Next Step
Workshop Leaders: Scott White, Lake Avenue Church, Pasadena
                            William Stearns, The Finishers Project
                            Steve Hoke, Church Resource Ministries
Fifteen life-changing weeks. Then what? One of the roles coordinator and team members must fill is that of a coach, helping students find practical and viable next steps. Walk through two of the best approaches out there to get students to go beyond Perspectives. Lead by the authors themselves, one discusses the general “Next Step” options for involvement, while the other deals with practical steps towards direct cross-cultural ministry.

Establishing a City-Wide Movement: A Missions Mobilizers Forum
Workshop Leaders: John McVay, The Journey Deepens
                             Debbie Atteberry, PSP/WorldconneX
                             Dave Imboden, Go Connect
Ed Slonchka, Pittsburg Network for the Great Commission
When done right, Perspectives does more than just run like a class. It starts a city-wide movement. This workshop forum will help you learn from those who have taken initiative to impact more than just their students.

The Best From the Best
Workshop Leader: Robby Butler, The MissionNetwork
As a coordinator, you might have that one creative thing you do to enhance the learning experience of the students in your class, help them engage the materials, or guide them into practical next steps. Wouldn’t it be great if every class across the country could benefit from your insight while your class benefits from theirs? Now is your time to chime in. This is a workshop designed by coordinators, for coordinators, where the best and most creative ideas will be shared for all. Send your ideas in advance to RobbyQButler@gmail.com or bring them to this interactive workshop.

IDEAS: Interactively-Designed Enhancement Activities
Workshop Leaders: Colleen Wong, Barnabas International
                           Cyndi Older, Perspectives Revision Team
How can you add a spark that will not only set-up the speaker properly, but actually help enhance his or her presentation and discussion time? This workshop covers activities that smooth the transition into the speaker time, and help the students anticipate and look forward to what the speakers have to say. These are thought provoking activities that “hook” the students into engaging the new material - all this in an interactive way so that students are not just listening, but participating.

Instructor Workshops

Instructor Forum with Dr. Ralph Winter
This is a loosely structured open discussion hour for instructors only to chat with Dr. Ralph Winter, ask questions, bring up ideas, discuss topics, etc.

Learning Principles Today
Workshop Leader: Steve Hoke, Church Resource Ministries
Perspectives classes encompass a wide range of students, from college-age to senior citizens, and everything in between. The range of different interests, experience, education and motivation is huge. How can you present your lesson in a manner that makes sense so that you connect with such a broad and diverse audience? This workshop will explore some of the learning principles that are common to these different age groups that will ensure learning impact!

Becoming a Favorite Instructor: Tips from Coordinators for Their Speakers
Workshop Leaders: Yvonne Huneycutt, Perspectives Global Network
When Perspectives first started in the early 1970's the instructors would stay in the dorms with the coordinator team and students, hang out with them, and enjoy meals together. Though Perspectives has changed over the years, the most effective instructors continue in the same spirit, understanding their role as part of the larger team. Hear feedback from experienced coordinators of what they are looking for when choosing a speaker, and what to avoid. Learn how to craft your message in a way that achieves maximum impact, and gets you invited back! Become aware of the resources available to you on the web for enhancing your lesson. Led by one who has spent more than a decade as both a coordinator and an instructor.
